Nature of work

Biological, serological and molecular identification of viruses affecting Medicinal, ornamental and other commercially Important plants.

Molecular biology of RNA and DNA plant viral genomes and identification of various genes and determination of their Functions.

Molecular identification of Phytoplasma infecting crop and Non-crop species.

Development of diagnostic systems: ISEM, ELISA, Western blot immunoassay, Nucleic acid spot hybridization (NASH) tests and RT-PCR/PCR for reliable detection of viruses and phytoplasma infecting crop plants.

Advanced training course on purification and characterization of plant pathogenic viruses (potyviruses) sponsored by French Govt. (CIES-Paris) in an International French Institute, International Institut de Recherches Scientifique pour la Development a Adiopodoume

(IIRSDA/ORSTOM) during October 1988 – October 1989 with Prof. Jean-Claude Thouvenel.

Attended National Workshop of 'Radiochemistry and Application of Radioisotopes' organized by Indian association of Nuclear Chemists and Allied Scientists (INCAS/BARC) Bombay and Lucknow University during 8th to 30th January 1996 at Lucknow University.

Attended Department of Biotechnology (DBT) sponsored training on 'Biochemical and Immunological Techniques for Identification and Detection of Plant Viruses from 19th August to 7th September 1996 at S. V. University, Tirupati.

Attended a short-term course on molecular methods for diagnosis of plant pathogens, sponsored by ICAR, at IIHR, Bangalore, 16 – 25 September 2002.
