Area of Specialization

Dr. Upadhyay’s lab has been working in the area of development of Agrotechnology/variety for quality cultivation of Medicinal & Aromatic Plants. Group has developed New agrotechnology for quality cultivation of Menthol-mint (Mentha arvensis L.) during rainy season/kharif season, in addition to that also discovered new source of planting material for quality cultivation of menthol-mint. His research suggests menthol-mint cultivation during rainy season especially in Bundelkhand region, rainfed areas, M.P. Chhattisgarh, etc can play important role to provide sustainable source of income to the farmers of these areas. He demonstrated that menthol-mint can be successfully cultivated in rainy season, its helps to minimize ground water exploitation and simultaneously save ground water for future generation. The group also developed new agrotechnology for quality cultivation of Chamomile, Rose-scented geranium, Wild marigold, Menthol-mint, Silybum, Phyllanthus amarus, Lemongrass, Citronella, Palmarosa, etc. based on integrated nutrient management, integrated weed management, precision farming, climate smart agriculture, organic farming, etc. for quality cultivation of MAPs to provide sustainable source of income to the farmers.
