Biological Central Facility

Biology Central Facility (BCF) is a state-of-the-art facility of CSIR-CIMAP that houses more than 50 high end instruments. It provides a unique platform to all researchers (students and staff) to conduct their research on high end sophisticated instruments like confocal microscope, capillary sequencer, Real Time PCR, ultracentrifuge, flow cytometer, high speed floor model centrifuge and also all other routine laboratory instruments used in biological research. BCF is a key facility of CSIR-CIMAP, catering to the needs of biology researchers. It also serves researchers from other universities / institutes. The facility is also used on open days (National Science Day, National Technology Day, CSIR Foundation Day, CSIR-CIMAP Annual Day, etc.) for visit by school / college science students and teachers to give them a feel of high end biology research. Dignitaries and media persons are regular visitors to the facility. The idea behind creating the facility was to provide access to researchers to those high end instruments that are difficult to maintain in individual labs and are costly. The BCF also serves as a training platform for newly inducted researchers.
