Business Development

The major activities of the unit are providing consultancy, technical service and technology licensing for the development of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAPs) based entrepreneurship. Over the last decade, CSIR-CIMAP has licensed number of technologies to the various industries/ MSMEs/Start-ups and they commercialized the formulations and marketing their products. Several consultancy agreements were also signed with different industries/ NOGs/ Shrine Boards/Government departments and Universities for extending our services and activities among the stake holders of this sector. The following services offered to stake holders:
  • Interaction with the industries/entrepreneurs/MSMEs to enhance the business prospects.
  • Consultancy services and technology licensing.
  • Contract Research in the area of MAPs.
  • Preparation of documents for agreements/consultancy projects as per CSIR guidelines
  • Survey of land and preparation of techno-economic Feasibility reports.
  • Study of the economics of MAPs cultivation and impact study of adoption of improved varieties and agro-technologies of MAPs.
  • Training-cum-demonstration on cultivation and processing, marketing of MAPs.
  • Engineering designs and turn-key projects for improved distillation units.
  • Publications on major medicinal and aromatic plants.
  • Guidance in marketing and industrial linkages.
  • Herbal product formulations.
  • Quality testing of MAPs and related products.
  • Pilot Plant facility (Technology Business Incubation Centre) for new entrepreneurs/start-ups to enter in the herbal formulations for a period of one year.
  • Utilization of offered flowers technology for making incense sticks and fragrant cones

Transferred more than 80 technologies of medicinal and aromatic plant related formulations to 35 MSMEs//start-ups for commercialization and generated more than Rs. 480 lakh ECF. Our herbal formulations are successfully commercialized by the industries.
