Medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs) are a vital resource for producing diverse secondary metabolites with significant therapeutic, industrial, and nutritional applications. Despite their importance, the genomic and molecular underpinnings of secondary metabolite biosynthesis in many MAPs remain poorly understood, hindering efforts to optimize their production and fully harness their potential. My research focuses on addressing this gap by leveraging advanced omics approaches, including genomics, transcriptomics, metagenomics, and pathway analysis, to unravel the genetic and regulatory networks governing metabolite biosynthesis. By identifying key genes, pathways, and regulatory molecules, my work aims to enhance the production of high-value medicinal compounds. Additionally, I explore the role of plant-associated microbiomes and their interactions with host plants to gain insights into how external factors influence metabolite biosynthesis. Through this integrative and multidisciplinary approach, I aim to advance the sustainable utilization of MAPs, driving innovation in health and industrial applications.
